'The deepest order of change that human beings are capable of demonstrating is epistemological change. A change in epistemology means transforming one's way of experiencing the world.'
- Bradford Keeney

INTRODUCING TRANSFORMATIONAL COACHING

Coaching is the art of facilitating the development of others. The coach helps others realize the potential already present within them, but, perhaps, not yet fully manifest. Transformational Coaching not only supports the unfolding of new behaviours and capabilities but includes in its scope the unfolding of the potential of the client as a whole. NLP provides an excellent foundatiion for Transformational Coaching, offering a clear and precise approach to uncovering and influencing the structure of subjective experience, so as to minimize limitations and release possibilities. The Way of Unfolding adds to that a deep sense of the natural patterns in our development over time, helping the coach become more aligned with his or her own possibilities, while helping clients realize theirs.

CHANGE, LEARNING, GROWTH

A fully qualified Transformational Coach is skilled in recognizing and working with the three orders of transformation: Change, Learning and Growth.

Change occurs when there is a modification in the simple feedback loops that lead from intention to action, as we adjust our behaviour in the light of results. This simple kind of behavioural learning we call First Order Transformation.

Higher order learning occurs when we develop more complex abilities involving many behavioural shifts and when we adjust the defining frames of attitudes, beliefs, and values, which determine what is and is not possible in a given context. This is Second Order Transformation or learning proper.

Growth involves a shift in the person as a whole to a new level of integration and alignment. Such Third Order Transformation occurs when the deep organizing principles and assumptions - our personal epistemology - which are shaping our overall approach to life in many contexts adjust themselves.

In this Level One training, we are focusing on the principles and practice of First Order Transformation - Change.

Level One - Facilitating Change: Enhancing Performance and Alignment

We introduce the guiding principles of performance and alignment. Level One is focused on the process of change. We learn how to identify and support changes in behaviour that can impact performance. We learn how to help the client make such changes in a way that he or she is fully in alignment with them. In the First Unit, we emphasize change in outer behaviour, while in the Second Unit, we learn how to influence the key patterns in how we think and perceive. In these first two units, we develop the essential micro communication skills and models for understanding and engaging with the client's world.
